Baby Jesus is taken to church

An EasyEnglish Story Unit (AEE) from Luke's Good News

Joyce Ferrie

Mary and Joseph took the baby to church.

The baby's name was Jesus.

There was an old man at the church.

God had told him he would not die until he had seen the Saviour.

God had promised that someone would come to save his people.

The old man held the baby.

He said "Thank you" to God.

"Now Lord, you kept your promise.

I can die in peace.

I have seen the one who will save us from our sins."

The baby's mother and father were surprised at this.

Then the old man said to Mary,

"This child is chosen by God.

He will do great things."

There was a very old woman in the church too.

She thanked God also for this child who would do great things.

The baby grew into a strong boy.

He was clever and wise and God blessed him.
