sackcloth ~ (A) ~ sackcloth is a material. It is dark in colour and is made of goats' hair. Jews would wear sackcloth and ashes when they were very sad.
sackcloth ~ (B) ~ a dress of very rough material. It shows that the person who wears it is very sorry or very sad. People made this material out of old sacks. They wore it to show sadness and shame.
