slave ~ (B) ~ person who belongs to someone else and must obey them.

slave ~ (B) ~ Many people owned slaves at the time of the Bible. Some masters were cruel, but others were fair. Masters would buy and sell slaves to other people. Paul taught slaves to obey their masters. Slaves should act as if they are serving God, not men (Ephesians 6:5-8). The Book of Philemon is about Christian attitudes to slaves.
